Patient's Name: Mohammed Y. Jawad (Deewaniya, IRAQ) Procedure done: CABG Consultant: Dr. S. S. Bansal
Mohammed had suffered triple vessel disease and the doctors in Iraq had suggested him for Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery. Mohammed had no hope for the treatment in his own country because of the inadequate Medical facilities and insurgent situation. Mohammed’s wife Mrs.Fazia Khalid decided to travel to India and get her husband treated. Mohammed and Fazia boarded 6hours connecting flight from Baghdad-Dubai-New Delhi. With no idea, where to go, what to do and who to contact in a country where nobody speaks or understand your language, Mohammed and Fazia had one hope. They had heard of Kartikey from KARMAL.org. Mohammed called Kartikey from the airport, Kartikey then made her speak to one of his Arabic interpreters who latter became a bridge of understanding between the patient and the hospital. Kartikey then assisted Mohammed and Fazia to get the transportation from the airport to one of the luxury hotels in New Delhi and then to Metro Heart Institute, Faridabad. This co-ordination worked well and Dr. S.S.Bansal (Sr. Interventional Cardiologist) decided to get the surgery done without wasting much of precious time. The surgery went well and Mohammed started recovering in the CCU wherein Fazia was Hospitals guests as she stayed in a Luxury Suite. Mohammed joined her in the same suite after getting shifted from the CCU. Their ten days stay in hospital was a memorable experience for them.
Fazia and Mohammed remind it as: “Pain in my chest was making my family more worried than myself. I was diagnosed with blockage in my arteries and was advised CABG surgery. Fazia and my three daughters have no one except me to take care of. I wanted to live for them but that the pain was killing me. My sickness was reflecting on my family members’ faces. As we don’t have very good medical facilities in our country, we had a little hope. Allah, I thought that my days were over and I could not see my family happy again. But then Fazia decided that we will go to India to get my surgery done. Fazia had heard about a medical facilitator KARMAL from our neighbor. My neighbor Hamid Hanoon, had his critical surgery done. Fazia took the phone no. of Mr. Kartikey from Mrs. Hanoon and we were set to fly to India. We went Baghdad to board a flight to Dubai and then to New Delhi. November l2, we landed on Delhi Airport and called Mr. Kartikey who arranged interpreter, transportation, hotel accommodation and doctor’s appointment for me and Fazia. Dr. S. S. Bansal from Metro Hospital made Fazia and me very comfortable. Fazia chose to stay in the hospital. Meals were brought to both of us. Being Arabic we have a distinct choice of food and it was also taken care. We had interpreters, service staff, nursing staff, doctors all helping us. Mr. Kartikey was always there with me. We never felt that we were from the different country and speak a very different language. I believe that around the world people under one language and that’s Humanity and brotherhood. I found everyone very co-operative, welcoming and full of compassion. God bless them all, because of KARMAL and METRO HOSPITAL, especially Dr.Bansal, I am doing well now and I can see the smile back on my daughters’ faces. Inshallah
